To provide support and guidance to everyone who wishes to write
In 2010, The Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing opened its doors as a home for writers. The Institute was founded with the belief that writers need a supportive community to flourish—one based in compassion rather than competition. That's why every year we host our annual Summer Writers’ Conference.
What began as a single week-long program has grown into an internationally respected program that brings together over a hundred writers from around the world each year.
We are committed to promoting voices from a wide array of cultural backgrounds, to increasing philanthropic support for writers of color, LGBTQ+ writers, parent-writers, and educators, and to enhancing the literary landscape of Martha’s Vineyard for residents and visitors.
